Introduction to AWS Weekly Roundup
Last week, my team met many developers at Developer Week in San Jose, where we discussed the latest advancements in AI and cloud technology. One of the key takeaways was the increasing interest in building and deploying production-ready AI agents. In this post, we’ll cover the latest AWS announcements, including the launch of Claude Sonnet 4.6 in Amazon Bedrock and Kiro in GovCloud Regions.
Claude Sonnet 4.6 in Amazon Bedrock
Claude Sonnet 4.6 is now available in Amazon Bedrock, offering frontier performance across coding, agents, and professional work at scale. This new model approaches Opus 4.6 intelligence at a lower cost, enabling faster, high-quality task completion.
Kiro in GovCloud Regions
Kiro is now available in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, providing developers in regulated environments with the ability to leverage Kiro’s agentic AI tool with rigorous security controls.
Additional Updates
Other notable updates include the introduction of Agent Plugins for AWS, which extend coding agents with skills for deploying applications to AWS. We also have a new chat with Byron Cook on automated reasoning and trust in AI systems, as well as best practices for deploying AWS DevOps Agent in production.
