A recent study has found a direct link between the uncontrolled re-entry of a SpaceX rocket and a plume of polluting lithium in the Earth’s atmosphere. The rocket, which failed in flight, vaporized into fireballs over Ireland, England, and Germany before striking Earth in Poland. Scientists detected a significant increase in lithium levels in the atmosphere, which could have long-term consequences for the planet’s climate and temperature. With SpaceX planning to launch one million satellites in the coming years, the risk of pollution from space debris is becoming a major concern.
